Description
The rotary dryer is equipment employed to minimize the moisture content of feed materials by bringing them in direct contact with a heated gas. It has strong adaptability to materials, can dry various materials, and the operation of the equipment is simple and reliable. It is widely used in building materials, metallurgies, the chemical industry, cement, etc. It can dry slag, coal powder, mining powder, clay, sand, limestone, sawdust, sludge, and so on.

Advantages
- High drying intensity: The material is highly dispersed in the airflow, and the entire surface of the particles is actively dry.
- Good thermal efficiency: The drying time is short (generally only 10-300 seconds), and the drying moisture is controllable.
- The treatment capacity is large: Thermal efficiency reaches 60% when drying unbound water.
- Dry evenly: The materials are evenly distributed and dispersed in the dryer and fully contacted with the hot air (concurrent or countercurrent) passing through the barrel, accelerating drying heat transfer and achieving the drying purpose.
- The occupied area is small: The dryer has a simple structure and is convenient for construction and maintenance.
Principle
The rotary dryer’s drum is a slightly angled and rotatable cylinder with wet material entering from one end up and dry material collecting from the other end down. Hot air enters at the inlet or outlet end and exits at the top of the other end. The barrel is equipped with a forward-running plate, which makes the material continuously run up and down when turning the barrel so that it can fully contact the hot airflow to improve the drying efficiency and make the material move forward. The heat source of dry materials is generally hot air, high temperature flue gas, water vapor, etc.
